Hydraulic Cylinders
Hydraulic Cylinders
Hydraulic cylinders are used in countless applications and produced within an enormous range of specifications. Our Custom Cylinders range from small and precise to some of the largest cylinders produced in the U.S. And we certainly work with sizes in-between. Each cylinder is built to the specifications of the customer and is then 100% tested before delivery.
What are Hydraulic Cylinders?
Hydraulic cylinders are hydro-mechanical devices which extend and retract a rod from within a contained unit to create linear force. This linear action is created when incompressible fluid is pumped into the contained unit placing force onto a section of the rod, opposite a direction of possible motion. Thus, the force of the entering liquid is transferred into the rod.
What are Single Acting Cylinders?
Single Acting Hydraulic cylinders are cylinders that only allow fluid on one side of the rod’s piston. This limitation of fluid flow creates a unidirectional force within the linear stroke. These cylinders rely on the force from a load, springs, another cylinder, or some other device to return the rod to its original position.
What are Double Acting Cylinders?
Double-acting cylinders are cylinders that allow fluid to act on both sides of a piston form separate ports. This dual action allows for a cylinder to extend and retract through its own force. Fluid can be pumped into either chamber opposite the piston to move the rod in either direction.
What are Telescopic Cylinders?
Telescopic Cylinders are generally used where the length of a normal cylinder will not fit within an application. The rod within a telescopic cylinder is also used as a piston barrel. Instead of a rod extending form a tube, a tube extends form a tube and a rod extends from within the extended tube. The cylinder however may have more than two stages to meet the requirement of length.
